Bhutanese PhD Programme in Anthropology for 2022

(For both Bhutanese and International Students)

The College of Language and Culture Studies (CLCS) to launch a PhD Programme in Cultural Anthropology in partnership with the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), with the generous support of the Wenner Gren Foundation. The Programme was approved by the Research Degrees Committee of the Royal University of Bhutan.

The College of Language and Culture Studies in Taktse, Trongsa will be launching the first-ever Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Anthropology in the fall of 2022. The four-year PhD programme will focus on the four pillars of GNH from the lens of anthropology (cultural anthropology, environmental anthropology, political anthropology, and anthropology of development).

Minimum entrance requirement (among others): MA in Cultural/Social Anthropology or MA in an allied social science discipline. The programme is open to Bhutanese and international applicants.
