PROFESSOR/READER IN REFORMATION HISTORY
REF NO: DHP076A A rare opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Reader/Chair in Reformation History within the School of Divinity, History and Philosophy at the University of Aberdeen. This post is part of a university-wide investment in 50 key strategic positions.
The main purpose of this role is to enhance the flourishing research and teaching culture in Divinity. This will be fulfilled by developing Divinity’s provision in Ecclesiastical History with a particular research focus in Reformation History. The role will involve developing Ecclesiastical History’s profile as an island of research excellence within Aberdeen’s Divinity Department, and securing an outstanding REF outcome. The reader or chair will contribute to the teaching of Ecclesiastical History and the History of Theology at undergraduate and taught post-graduate levels, and will attract significant numbers of PhD students in Reformation Studies. You will work closely with colleagues in cognate sub-disciplines in Divinity.
The successful applicant will be expected to provide the highest standards of research and academic leadership and should therefore already have an internationally recognised record in independent research as well as relevant qualifications and experience.
A competitive remuneration package will be available for exceptional candidates considered at Professorial level. For appointments made at Reader level, salary will be paid at the appropriate point on Grade 8 of the University Salary Scale (£51,630 – £58,089 per annum) and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
