Postdoctoral Research Associate

This is a three year British Heart Foundation funded post to investigate the role of DNA methylation in the regulation of gene expression and function of endothelial cells. This is a collaborative project between the groups of Dr Alison Brewer and Dr Aleks Ivetic. Who are based at the BHF Centre for Research Excellence at King’s College London (https://www.kcl.ac.uk/lsm/research/divisions/cardio/bhf/index.aspx).

Their combined experience and expertise in epigenetics, transcriptional regulation, endothelial cell biology and live cell imaging here focuses on how dysregulation of epigenetic modifying enzymes in a hyperglycaemic setting might promote atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease in diabetic patients.

The successful applicant will apply high-throughput transcriptomic and methylomic analyses, together with advanced microscopy techniques (https://nic.kcl.ac.uk/mission/), to determine the molecular mechanisms that underlie the development of impaired vascular function and disease associated with diabetes. Applicants must have appropriate expertise in standard cell and molecular biology techniques. Some experience of epigenetics, bioinformatics analyses and microscopy techniques would be desirable.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 36 months.

This is a full-time post – 100% full time equivalent.

The selection process will include a panel interview. Interviews are expected to take place the week commencing on the 13th May 2019.
