2020 Tibetan Girls Scholarship Program Announcement

 

The Tibet Fund and Drokmo are pleased to announce the 2020 Tibetan Girls Scholarship Program for Tibetan girls with limited resources.

 

The TGSP is an initiative started in 2018, funded by The Tibet Fund and administered by Drokmo. The Tibetan GSP will provide full scholarships for girls who have completed Grade12 and do not have other financial means to pursue higher education, for their full course of study. Scholarship amounts will be awarded based on actual tuition fees of individual courses, plus a fixed annual allowance of INR 75,000. Full tuition fees will be provided of up to INR 60,000 per annum for professional studies, and up to INR 40,000 per annum for technical skills programs, degree programs, and diploma programs, including degrees from Tibetan institutes. Scholarships will be renewed each year based on continuing financial need and satisfactory academic performance.

Interested applicants must read the Eligibility Criteria carefully and follow the Application Instructions.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Applicants must have completed Grade 12 from a Tibetan school in India or Nepal between 2018 and 2020, and beginning the first year of their bachelor’s course.
  2. Applicants must not be receiving any other scholarships to pursue higher education.
  3. Grade 12 certificates, mark sheet of Grade 10, mark sheet of Grade 12 Board Examination,

and copies of updated Green Book.

  1. Applicants must submit before 5 PM July 11, 2020 their completed GSP application

package, which will include both Application Form and Recommendation Form.

  1. Two recommendations:
    • The first recommender should be a teacher who has taught the applicant at least for a year, OR a school head (Headmaster/Principal) of any school in which she has studied.
    • The second recommender should be either a hostel in-charge (warden/foster parent) of the applicant’s hostel/home where she has stayed at least a year, OR a settlement officer/camp leader/regional NGO president from the applicant’s home settlement.

Application Instructions:
1. Download the application form at ________________ or request an electronic copy by

emailing tibetangsp@gmail.com. Copies of the form will also be made available at the local Settlement Office and nearest Tibetan school.

  1. Submit scanned copies of your completed application form by email to tibetangsp@gmail.com no later than June 10, 2020, along with scanned copies of the following supporting documents: 1) Grade 12 pass certificate, 2) Grade sheet of Grade 10 3) Mark sheet of Grade 12 board examination, 4) Copies of updated Green Book.

Please send all application materials via email as scanned attachments; DO NOT mail any materials by post.

  1. In the application form, submit names of two persons, along with their phone numbers and email addresses, who will provide recommendation letters for the applicant. Recommendation forms are included with the application form.
  2. Applicants must make sure that their application package must also contain the completed recommendation forms from both recommenders.
